Welcome to Alexander Hoover's homepage! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cleveland State University.

My research focuses on the interplay of fluids, mechanics, and behavior in organism pumping, flying and swimming. In particular, I am interested in how their interaction influences the production of efficient and robust mechanisms of fluid transport and locomotion. I’m generally interested in mathematical biology, biofluids, computational modeling, and applied mathematics.

If you are interested in these topics and about potentially pursuing research in these areas at either the undergraduate, masters, or doctoral level, feel free to send me an email (a.p.hoover@csuohio.edu)!

I am also an active board member of Spectra, the Association for LGBTQ+ Mathematicians. I am the current chair of the Outreach and Communication Committee.
